Commander, I am receiving a prerecorded message from Captain Scott, aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise-B.

Commander, I hope this message finds you well. Better than we are at least. Since that last battle with the new V’ger, things are a right old mess – and I’m not just talking about wreckage-strewn systems.

For starters, Captain Sulu and Dr McCoy have fallen out, almost as badly as the Federation and Klingon Empire.

I even heard the good doctor has been officially reprimanded by Starfleet for his… less than stellar ambassadorial skills. There’s no two ways about it, he has seriously jeopardized the peace accords!

Anyway, I’m an engineer, which means I’ve got problems that I can actually fix. My repair teams are busy across the fleet – alas, no ship can be spared from the V’ger blockade to go into dry dock.

If you have anything that can help us, even if it’s just your sheer goodwill, then you’ll restore this engineer’s shields back to 100 percent.

I’m also looking into something unusual from the battle, and I know you love a good mystery. If that doesn’t whet your appetite like a good Scotch, then I don’t know what will!

Commander, I am detecting debris from destroyed V’ger Fighters in the vicinity.

I am surprised this was not destroyed by the intruder for raw material, if not to hide its technological secrets. Beaming it aboard – I shall use the hold we previously constructed.

You’re breaking up a wee bit, lassie – must be this damned energy cloud – though I think I heard you right. Well done! On your way back, you wouldn’t mind calling at Gamma Sedra, would ya?

This is from the Amar alright! Or rather, a replicated version of it. Captain Spock, are you there? Remnants of the I.K.S. Amar confirmed.

Commander, the real I.K.S. Amar was destroyed twenty years ago, on the edge of Klingon space, by the original V’ger intruder – as recorded by the Epsilon IX listening post, before it too was destroyed.

Thus, only the original V’ger would be capable of bringing it back in replicated form. Yet we believed we were in conflict with another V’ger entity. This is highly concerning.

That’s the spot! The Enterprise fought several K’t’inga-class Battle Cruisers at those coordinates, though their debris might have drifted somewhat, given its proximity to those binary stars.

The funny thing is, according to my sensor logs, they were all copies of a single vessel: the I.K.S. Amar. See if you can find any hull markings that match that identification.

Captain Scott, you mentioned in your message that you were conducting an investigation. Does this relate to the replicated ships manufactured by the V’ger intruder?
Objective ID

Aye, it does at that. One very specific replicated ship in particular: the V’ger Fighter configuration – those massive ones we encountered late in the battle.

As you know, this new V’ger can scan and replicate its enemies, making them indistinguishable from the real thing, except at the molecular level. Both people and ships!

But other than deploying its own unique cloaking tech across the armada, it didn’t show much in the way of original engineering. At least not until the V’ger Fighter turned up.

The Enterprise and Excelsior didn’t fare too badly, but the Leondegrance sure took a beating – to the tune of 690M Tritanium! Repairs in the field are expensive.
