- Thank you. Before we join the fleet, I want to make sure this upgrade does what it says on the proverbial tin.

- Now, activate the Excelsior’s Decloaking Deflector ability to reveal the enemy ships in this system. Just have those phasers armed when you do!

- Well, we’re still here, Mr Tuvok! I’d call that a successful test.

- Now, if you don’t mind, I’d like to see if this new deflector can do more than just clear rocks out of our path. Lojur, set a course for Indaego.

- That is the end of the log, Commander – save for the addendum Captain Sulu made, which we have already heard.

- Dialogue
- Given the information about cloaked Klingon, Romulan, and Federation ships working together, which required unique upgrades to the Excelsior, these evidently weren’t standard vessels.
- Objective ID
- 1,523,352,656
- Phase

- Character
- Maia
- Dialogue
- It is possible that the scanning beam from the Klingon ship, as with the one we encountered ourselves from the Romulan vessel, was in fact non-destructive, unlike the historical V’ger’s scans.
- Objective ID
- 1,523,352,656
- Phase

- Character
- Maia
- Dialogue
- Such a device could have been used by either party to produce a replica of the U.S.S. Excelsior, which then crashed on the cold surface of Tokona – perhaps destroyed by the real Excelsior itself.
- Objective ID
- 1,523,352,656
- Phase
- dialogue_end
- Character
- Maia
- Dialogue
- Though to what end they would require a replica starship and crew, I do not know.
- Objective ID
- 1,523,352,656
- Phase

- Character
- Maia
- Dialogue
- The alternative is that it was the real Excelsior that crashed, with no survivors – and that the ship warping around the galaxy right now is a facsimile, right down to its captain and crew.
- Objective ID
- 1,523,352,656
- Phase
- dialogue_end
- Character
- Maia
- Dialogue
- Though if that is the case, then starship maintenance and medical examinations will soon uncover the truth. Perhaps we shall see for ourselves, the next time we meet Captain Sulu.

- Oh my!… It works. It actually works! And were those… V’ger vessels?

- Objective ID

- Negative. But it is probing us with an invasive scan.

- Captain’s log, stardate 9775.2. It seems I am now the master of a much-upgraded vessel. But before we take her out into the field, we’re taking her for a little shakedown run.
