The Q Continuum has imposed itself in the Origin Sector by banishing Q here, where his chaos might be contained. Q has already surrounded the other factions caught in this temporal quarantine, and his space-time machinations are further destabilizing the sector, even as they bring with them new resources and rewards. Q has little interest in conquest, and so has created a fleet of automated vessels to prevent the other factions from interfering with his games, and to gather the energy needed to fuel his experiments. He cares little for the ancient Progenitor ruins and technology here, beyond using them as his playthings.
