Cat Spock

CLASS: SCIENCE
GROUP: IDIC
FACTION: FEDERATION

What is there to say about Spock, except that he is a cat? Except he isn’t a cat, but rather half cat, half le-catya – a Vulcan species that bears remarkable similarities to Earth’s Felis catus. As a Vulcan, Spock is deeply rooted in logic, spiritualism, and philosophy. Vulcans maintain strong emotions beneath their fur; coupled with the turbulent emotions of an Earth cat, Spock’s day-to-day life is a constant battle to remain in control – notably having never completed kolinahr to attain a state of pure logic. That Spock appears entirely logical to his friends and colleagues is a testament to his mental discipline and strong catra.

But Spock is also much more than the sum of his rather cute parts. Still early in his career as a Starfleet officer (having shunned the Vulcan Science Academy), and certainly early in his life as a le-catya, he had already accomplished much aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, while still only a junior lieutenant and science officer. Needless to say, he soon rose to the rank of first officer. There, with his close comrades, Captain James T. Kirk and Doctor Leonard McCoy, he has out-thought Klingons, rediscovered the Romulans, and even found time for love with his fiancée, T’Pring. Oh, and he once also lost his brain for a short while (haven’t all cats?).

Everything now points to a long and successful career for Spock. But ultimately, being a cat, primal urges are a constant threat to someone even as disciplined as Spock. One can never be too certain what is waiting around the corner.
